Leitmotif
During my residency exhibition at the deYoung Museum, San Francisco, I asked Museum visitors from all over the world to sing a song which was related to what they had lost in their lives while spinning the wheel of a bicycle. The bicycle was placed upside down so that I could emphasize the character of our memory which would be turning but not moving. Our sense of loss is cyclical as we repeat a song over and over.
